Tom Daley’s Almost Real Time Super-Interactive Brand SERP

Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 provided a LOT of time-sensitive content and noise… news about new records, medals, highlights and best historic moments. Google are doing a great job of keeping up-to-the-minute – almost like a 24/7 news service. Is this the start of Google’s push to become a major challenger to the news networks to be the go-to place for sports fans? You can bet it is! But is that going to be limited to sports? Listen here, because I’ll be sharing my predictions 😉

Kalicube’s #DailyBrandSERP  August 16th 2021 presented by the Brand SERP Guy, Jason Barnard.

Transcript:

Hi, I’m Jason Barnard. I’m the Brand SERP Guy. And today we’re looking at the Brand SERP for Tom Daley. Now, this is recorded just after the Olympics. And what we can see here is quite how much Google will adapt to a specific event worldwide event, like the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. And here it’s got the medals on the right hand side.

It’s got this delightful photo gallery that I can click through to show Tom Daley, very, very pleased to have won his medal and I understand why. Over here on the right, we’ve got featured events, which I’d never seen before this event, we’ve got top stories. We’ve got up-to-date videos. It’s basically Google trying to show us very relevant up-to-date information, both in the left and the right hand rail and this right hand rail keeping up to date with events on a minute to minute basis is going to be something we’ll be seeing more and more of, and that as brands and as people we would do well to pay a lot of attention to in the years to come. Thank you very much.
