Forever 21 – Localised Image Boxes in Seattle & Texas: How Smart is Google?

Google search results for the same query often change according to the different geo locations. For brand searches, Google will often suggest a map pack of that store near to you. Forever 21 has 794 stores worldwide so their local results will reflect that. But here’s something you don’t generally associate with geo-sensitivity – image boxes. Google is getting very jiggy by offering different images for the different locations. That is very very cool !

Transcript:

Hi, I’m Jason Barnard. I’m the Brand SERP Guy and today I’m looking at the Brand SERP for Forever 21. They’ve got their site here. They’ve got a lovely knowledge panel on the right-hand side, they’ve got three entity statements. They’ve got their four social profiles. They’ve got a geo located map and why that’s important?

I’ll show you in a moment. They’ve got that Twitter boxes. They’ve got top stories, Wikipedia, Facebook, and these images here. Now, why did I mention the geolocation of the Google maps? Because it’s obvious, but it’s less obvious in Google images. Look at the SouthCenter mall in Seattle, we’re in Seattle. Google has identified relevant images for the user in the town, the user is searching in. And if we take that over to Texas, you get pretty much exactly the same Brand SERP except this, which is obviously going to be geo located. But this, no longer is the images with geo located in Seattle, not so much in Texas, but Google’s getting pretty, pretty, pretty jiggy with the geolocation of Brand SERPs.

Thank you very much.
