Thumbnail: Knowledge Graph Update July 2023 #shorts

In this short video clip, Jason Barnard, The Brand SERP Guy and CEO and Founder of Kalicube, beautifully captures Google in the midst of a Knowledge Graph update. Jason provides a fascinating exploration of a Knowledge Panel overwriting the Knowledge Graph, and inversely the Knowledge Graph overwriting the Knowledge Panel by highlighting different search results in different locations. Watch the video right to the end.

Observing a Knowledge Graph Update: Discrepancies between Knowledge Graph and Knowledge Panel in SERPs

[00:00:00] The Brand SERP Guy (Jason Barnard): Hi, I’m Jason Barnard, The Brand SERP Guy from Kalicube, and today we’ve caught Google in the middle of a Knowledge Graph update. Here, Jason Barnard, author. Brilliant. It’s been like that for months and months and months, and yet in the Knowledge Graph, I have been listed as a writer for months and months and months.

[00:00:18] The Brand SERP Guy (Jason Barnard): But the Knowledge Panel overwrites the Knowledge Graph when it shows in the SERP. However, here I’m in London, and if I change the location to New York, we will see that, here we go, writer. So in America, the Knowledge Graph has overwritten the Knowledge Panel, but in London, the Knowledge Panel is overwriting the Knowledge Graph.

It’s delightful catching Google in the middle of an update. That was a lot of fun.
