Filter Pills Knowledge Panel Worldwide
For the past year, Filter Pills on Google SERPs have been available and tested only in the US. Filter Pills are like a mini website on Google and are now available all over the world.
They may not be appearing for companies yet, but they are appearing for people, books, and music groups. And in the coming years, when this little mini-website appears for companies, there will be a greater need to manage Filter Pills in the Knowledge Panel and optimise the multiple vertical Brand SERPs the trigger. Wonderful!
An Update on Filter Pills That Was Noticed by Jason Barnard (The Brand SERP Guy)

And I wanted to look at the news today, which is these filter pills that have now appeared all over the world instead of just the US. Over the last year or so, Google have been testing these in the US on desktop. I absolutely love them. It’s like a mini website on Google.
Examples of Filter Pills Which Changes for Different Entities Like People, Books, and Music Groups
[00:00:18] The Brand SERP Guy (Jason Barnard): Here with Josh King Madrid, you’ve got the Overview. That’s one Brand SERP. And then Listen, which is going to be all about his music. That’s another Brand SERP. And Songs, which is a third Brand SERP. Now, right now, these don’t appear for companies, but they do appear for books.
[00:00:33] The Brand SERP Guy (Jason Barnard): For example, here, interestingly enough, The Fundamentals of Brand SERPs for Business is the definitive work on Brand SERPs. It appears for the search term Brand SERPs. And as you can see here, we can buy, so we can see easily how this might evolve for products. And then we’ve got the Reviews vertical there. And as you can see, the results change.
[00:00:53] The Brand SERP Guy (Jason Barnard): And then also music groups. So, multiple entity types that have this. And this Beatles example really does show what an amazing little mini website for researching the Beatles this is. And there’s no need to visit, in this case, the Beatles website or even Wikipedia for that matter.
Since the 8th of September, Filter Pills Can Be Seen Outside of the USA and Have Some More Updates
[00:01:14] The Brand SERP Guy (Jason Barnard): And here in New York. Now, if I switch this to London using GS Locator, which is a brilliant little plugin, we still get the filter pills. And literally yesterday, the 8th of September, we didn’t see the filter pills outside of the USA. So, here we are in London. And if we look at my name, absolutely lovely. There you go in London, the filter pills with those different verticals that we need to control.
[00:01:51] The Brand SERP Guy (Jason Barnard): And one final little point, if anybody is still interested at this point is if I click here and look at Veronique, and then I click back, Google now knows that I’m researching. And look, it adds additional filter pills. So, my mini Google website has become more complete.
Over the next few years, these (filter pills) are going to become increasingly important.
