The Search Engine Journal Show is a podcast run by Search Engine Journal and hosted by the founder itself, Loren Baker 🙂
On October 11th this podcast’s Brand SERP didn’t have a knowledge panel. But on the 12th of October, a knowledge panel was triggered! In fact, this didn’t just happened for the Search Engine Journal Show, a lot of podcasts got a knowledge panel overnight. Even the “With Jason Barnard…” podcast got one!
That’s groovy! A super encouraging move from Google to inspire digital marketers and companies from different industries to create their own podcasts. But here, I’m sharing a few more reasons to leverage a podcast to feed Google with the information about who you are, what you do and who your audience is 😉
Watch until the end!

Transcript:
Hi and welcome. I’m Jason Barnard. I’m the Brand SERP Guy and today, we’re looking at the Brand SERP for the Search Engine Journal Show. It’s a podcast for SEO and marketing pros run by Search Engine Journal and hosted by the delightful Loren Baker. I recommend it, but that’s not the point today. The point today is over here on the right-hand side, we have a Knowledge Panel. This knowledge panel appeared on the 12th of October, 2021. It wasn’t there on the 11th of October, 2021. And that goes for an awful lot of podcasts. Google triggered a vast number of knowledge panels for podcasts that weren’t there on the 11th that are today on Google SERPs when you search for them and it even gave me a knowledge panel for my podcast.
Now, why is that important? Google is thirsty for information. It’s trying to understand who you are, what you do and who your audience is, and that helps for your entire SEO strategy. If Google can understand who you are. What you do, what your specialist topics are and who your audience might be. It can better match you to its users when they’re searching for anything around your topic.
Now, why is a podcast powerful for that? Because with Google Podcasts, the information is injected directly into Google’s brain. And podcasts are full of helpful information for Google about who you are, what you do and who your audience might be. So if you haven’t started thinking about a podcast yet, it might be something you’d want to add to your marketing mix because not only does it help with SEO, it will widen your audience and perhaps drive sales further down the funnel.
Thank you very much. And I’ll see you soon.
