Steve Carell’s Entity Home has a Problem. What Can He Do?

When Google can’t find a bio page you own (on your site), it might decide to use your social account as your Entity Home – this is what has happened to Steve Carell. Once you let Google choose your entity home, it’s hard to get it to change its mind. But hard does not mean mission impossible. Here, I’ll suggest what Steve Carell can do to change his entity home.

Transcript:

Hi today, we’re looking at Steve Carell’s Brand SERP. His famous. Absolutely brilliant. IMDB, people also ask, lots of entities knocking around there. Some videos, more entities down at the bottom. That’s great! On the right-hand side here, we have his Knowledge Panel. Now, why have I highlighted Twitter?

Now, Steve Carell, what’s interesting here? Why have I highlighted Twitter? Because Google understands his entity home – where Steve Carell lives online, is his Twitter account.

That might seem good. Problem is he doesn’t control Twitter and Twitter doesn’t have a great deal of information about him as a person there. If he wants better control, he really should create a site for himself. stevecarell.com for example, and try to get Google to understand that’s where the home is because that’s where he’ll get control of this Brand SERP.

Thank you.
