Everyone (almost) has heard of the book series Diary of a Wimpy Kid and the author Jeff Kinney. He has a great Brand SERP and a knowledge panel … but he hasn’t claimed the knowledge panel. He can claim via Twitter… but someone else could usurp him – the site Google thinks his official site actually isn’t. Oh dear! Losing control of your knowledge panel on Google has the potential to be an ORM disaster that Jeff Kinney can easily avoid.

Now, he is the author of Wimpy Kid. I didn’t know that, now I do. And I’m very happy. Why did Jeff Kinney write Diary of a Wimpy Kid?
Is apparently a common question. Maybe, why on earth did Jeff Kinney write Diary of a Wimpy Kid? Would be a better question if you didn’t like the book. He has his Twitter account is brilliantly, brilliantly represented with these Twitter boxes. We have some blue links down the bottom, but over here on the right hand side, we have a knowledge panel with no entity home.
That’s a real pity because having that entity home would help him to claim this knowledge panel and better control the knowledge panel and the Brand SERP. Now, here we can claim it through his Twitter account and it’s the correct Twitter account, but here we have poptropica.com and if we look at that site, it’s nothing to do with him.
So Jeff Kinney, perhaps you should claim this knowledge panel here. Before somebody else does because claiming your knowledge panel gives you great control over what appears there, but also helps you to control, especially in conjunction with your main website, what appears over here on the left-hand side.
