Key Moments in episode 122 of the Daily Brand SERP series:
00:00 Personal Brand SERP for Dan Sharp
00:08 Who is Dan Sharp?
00:31 How to find a hidden knowledge panel
01:08 Practical tip: A knowledge panel may not always appear
For me, Dan Sharp is the Founder and Director at Screaming Frog. But obviously there isn’t just one Dan Sharp, there are thousands. Google identifies a musical artist and a journalist on the Brand SERP for Dan Sharp.
Taking a closer look at this very ambiguous Brand SERP, in the left rail, Dan Sharp of Screaming Frog has very little visibility and on the right rail, he has none at all. So we may think, this entity doesn’t have a knowledge panel, but he does!
How did I know? He looked for this entity in Kalicube’s Knowledge Graph Explorer 🙂
When an entity has a knowledge panel it may not always appear on the Brand SERP. Want to check if your entity has a presence in the Knowledge Graph and therefore has knowledge panel? Check it on Kalicube’s Knowledge Graph Explorer (it’s a free tool).
But before that, watch this clip until the end 🙂
Kalicube’s #DailyBrandSERP November 7th 2021 presented by the Brand SERP Guy, Jason Barnard.
Hi and welcome. I’m Jason Barnard. I’m the Brand SERP Guy and today, we’re looking at the Brand SERP for Dan Sharp. Now for me, Dan Sharp is the founder of Screaming Frog, but apparently he is also a musical artist and here somebody who went to Liverpool University, who is a journalist.
What’s interesting is right down here at the bottom, we can see that Google understands that this could potentially be the Dan Sharp we’re talking about, which is the guy from Screaming Frog. Now, what you would imagine is that he doesn’t have a Knowledge Panel but in fact, he does. All you need to do is go to Kalicube Knowledge Graph Explorer and there are loads of Dan Sharps.
We can see them all scrolling by here. And this is the one. No, this isn’t the one. This one here is the Dan Sharp, we all know and love in the industry. Organizations who founded Screaming Frog, Dan Sharp.
So, he does have a knowledge panel. It just doesn’t appear on a search for his name, despite the fact that Google understands that I’m potentially looking for the founder of Screaming Frog.
Lesson for us all, even if we have a knowledge panel, it doesn’t necessarily trigger on a search on our name, even when Google seems to have recognized the entity we’re talking about in the left rail, the right rail doesn’t play ball.
Thank you very much and I’ll see you soon.
