Dyker Heights Christmas Lights is Struggling to Make its Way to the Top

We can assume that Dyker Heights Christmas Lights gets busier as the Christmas holiday approaches. But as the season approaches, they are missing out on some important Brand SERP real estate!

Their Brand SERP is getting filled with review sites, plus some blogs and articles with content that guides users on how to book a tour. This is great since all are very positive.

However, one important thing is missing at the top. Their site is struggling to climb to the top where it *should* be sitting. So, I investigated to see why and, as is usually the case I figured out the smart trick 😉

Watch until the end!

Transcript:

Hi, I’m Jason Barnard. I’m the Brand SERP Guy and today, we’re looking at the Brand SERP for Dyker Heights Christmas Lights, which is a New York tour operator. Presumably, showing christmas lights to tourists. Now, if we look here on the right-hand side, they’ve got loads of great reviews. If we look on the left-hand side, we can see 1, 2, 3 ads and that suggests to me that this is a very commercial keyword.

As we scroll down, we’ve got Time Out, we’ve got articles about them, people are asking questions around their products and services. And we have more reviews, GetTourGuide and more reviews and more reviews and TripAdvisor and Loving New York more reviews. Loads of articles about them, loads of reviews, loads of ads, and right down here at the bottom, their site is struggling to get into that first page. And with a commercial keyword like this, that’s so incredibly focused on them, they would do very well to be ranking up here at the top, but they’re not.

Now, one of the questions is why not? And here we can see that actually the page that’s ranking is the Book Now, which is logical because people would want to book, but I would suggest they could probably improve this site and get themselves to rank much higher.

Here for example, they could put more content, but they could get their home page to rank right at the top and potentially the Book Now as a rich sitelink, because here, we see that the logo links through to the index.php but the home page actually does exist. So, that will be a really simple fix that would possibly push them from ninth to first on their own commercial intent branded term.

Thank you very much and I’ll see you soon.
